Our amazing music-makers:

You can instantly recognize him on stage: gun fingers in the air, firing off samples, sweeping FX and rewinding tracks. Victoria's resident badman Rhythmicon started his record collection in high school and has spent 15 years forming his particular style. Since then he has been at the core of the bass music scene, collaborating with The Big Reds and the influential sub|division crew. Rhythmicon has shared the stage with taste makers Zed Bias, Mumdance, Pinch, Kahn, Sam Binga, received DJ support from Skream, held residencies at Lucky Bar, Hush, The Reef, and has been a favorite at music festivals such as Rifflandia, Bass Coast, Tall Tree and Soundwave. His sets span across underground styles of grime, dubstep, drum & bass, jungle, footwork, garage and funky. Rhythmicon is also one half of Hi-Q Sound System, a multi-instrumental dub act featuring live manipulated beats, trumpet, synths, melodica and bass guitar.

Get stoked, folks! Tarantist has returned to the island after a year and a half in the interior; he is absolutely chuffed to back with the people who fill his heart. Inspired by the melding of minimal UK production and West Coast Bass Music, Tarantist’s sound is deep, dark and driving. Interested in developing pieces based on sounds recorded from the world around him, his production uses found sounds as a basis to create a variety of broken beat rhythms. He focuses on drum & bass, and halftime, while also exploring the world of theatrical sound design through productions like Damn Spot Theatre's Wyrd Sisters (Dance Piece of the Year, Victoria Fringe Festival 2015). Tarantist seeks primarily to express his love of movement through high energy journeys, challenging audiences to lose themselves on the way. It's not about blowing minds, it's about shrinking heads.

This showcase is a chance for all performers and attendees to be present and in the moment. Tongue n' Cheek relish the opportunity to create and share this fun & sensual afternoon of entertainment with you! As such, we require that ***NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOS*** be taken of any of the performances without EXPLICIT permission and knowledge of the performers. We have a professional photographer lined up for the showcase should any performers wish to have photographs for memory keepsakes. Please respect our request and honour your experience by being present in the moment.

**We ask for your support in creating a safe and consent-based container for the evening. This venue is special and audience members have the option of cuddling up to watch the show. Please explicitly ask before initiating movement into someone else's personal space. Remember that we all have different levels of comfort, as well as diverse desires and needs. It's really, really important to ask! It's not nerdy, it's not silly, it's completely vital. Please come speak with a member of Tongue n Cheek or one of our lovely volunteers if you have any concerns during the event.**

Accessibility: Studio Robazzo has a small set of stairs (`~8 steps total) to get into the space. The DJ booth/dancefloor is up a flight of stairs, but there will be a small amount of space to dance downstairs. The bathroom is downstairs. It is an unconventional and intimate venue. If you have any concerns about comfort/accessibility please email us at

Tongue n' Cheek is a performance troupe based out of Victoria, British Columbia. These creatures have been spicing up the stage together for the past 5 years. By fusing together their very diverse dance backgrounds and mutual love of expressive and authentic movement, they have created a very sensual and unique style of burlesque. Tongue n’ Cheek aims to create opportunities for the community to explore themselves and their desires in a safe and supportive space. To them, sex positivity includes celebrating the human body and revelling in our delicious human-ness. This supports Tongue n’ Cheek to perform their sexuality on their own terms - dancing together gives them the opportunity to determine their creative expressions and the freedom to engage with desires. Come and celebrate this evening with us!
