In early 2018, we were approached by Connect Seven, an event planning organization based in Vancouver, to design an elegant space partition installation at TED 2018.
Each of the 3 identical screens measures 22' long by 7.5' tall and is composed of 332 laser-cut triangles. The complex tessellated form was generated through the use of parametric algorithms.
To connect pieces together, we used 1,200 ft of hickory wood dowels, routed to specific angles with the invention and use of a custom 3D printed table saw jig.
This design concept was first prototyped and unveiled as a conceptual office wall partition at the 2018 Discover Tectoria tech expo hosted by VIATEC in Victoria.
