Notes: We were the recipients of the 2016 Vancouver Island Ecostar Award for manufacturing excellence!
For two years in a row, Studio Robazzo has been commissioned to design and fabricate the Vancouver Island EcoStar Awards, recognizing local champions of green initiatives.
The awards were created by cold casting marble and resin in to a silicone mold of a live-edge log.
The casts were poured using a mixture of marble dust recovered from local industrial processes, and a bonding agent made from soybeans and hemp.
The colour gradient was achieved by adding increments of indigo powder and kale powder to the marble. To complete the award, local blue stained fir wood was used as the base.
The 2015 Eco Star Awards featured a white-black gradient using charcoal in varying amounts.
